Ace Africa
Ace Africa works in remote areas of East Africa where one in three households are infected with HIV, 60% of the populations live on less than a $1 a day and 20% of children have been orphaned or made vulnerable by HIV and AIDS. The ACE programme concurrently addresses the short term emergency needs and longer term development issues that affect those communities that have been badly affected by the HIV and AIDS epidemic. Their projects strengthen communities in terms of developing new skills for local people and supporting exisiting community based structures and organisations.

Comic Relief
Comic Relief is a charity which was founded in the United Kingdom in 1985 by the comedy scriptwriter Richard Curtis and Alexander Mendis in response to famine in Ethiopia. The highlight of Comic Relief's appeal is Red Nose Day, a biennial telethon held in March. Comic Relief is one of the two high profile telethon events held in Britain, the other being Children in Need held annually in November.

Orphan Support Africa
Orphan Support Africa is a new approach to aid that uses a very old concept; grass roots empowerment.
They are a 501-C3 NGO working in partnership with Community Based Organizations (CBOs) throughout the poorest, rural areas of Malawi, Tanzania and Uganda with the objective of supporting Orphaned and Vulnerable Children (OVC) who have been left so by HIV/AIDS. Their aim is to promote 100% local ownership and participation by the communities with whom they work, and in that generate resilience, self reliance, and self respect among the community members as well as the OVC for whom they care.

READ International
READ International began life in 2004 as a small project based at Nottingham University, founded by a group of socially entrepreneurial students following a ‘gap year’ teaching in Tanzania. Now there are over 1,000 student volunteers involved, operating from a network of over 50 university sites across the UK.
We collect any books from anyone, anywhere throughout the UK, but we focus our efforts on collecting textbooks and children’s literature from secondary schools. We sort the books and send the most relevant, up-to-date, and high quality books to schools in Tanzania and Uganda. Any books collected which are not relevant or appropriate to send are sold online or recycled to generate funding.

Sentebale
Sentebale is a charity set up in April 2006 by Prince Seeiso of Lesotho and the Prince Harry of Wales, the younger son of Diana, Princess of Wales and Charles, Prince of Wales, to help vulnerable children and young people in Lesotho, particularly those who have been orphaned as a result of HIV and AIDS. The new organization was a step in Prince Harry's pledge to continue his mother's work with disadvantaged children.

Street Child Africa

The Tanzania Development Trust
The Britain-Tanzania Society founded The Tanzania Development Trust (TDT) in 1975 as a Registered Charity and still provides TDT’s running costs. That’s why EVERY POUND DONATED TO TDT IS SPENT ON PROJECTS. No admin charges. No office expenses. TDT is run by volunteers. We ourselves pay for monitoring visits to projects.
We aim to help relieve poverty and improve health in Tanzania through small-scale development projects in Education, Health, and Social Services, water supplies, community facilities, and the promotion of self-help activities. We work across all parts of the country. With more than 34 years experience, we can identify, assess and monitor good projects in Tanzania, helped by our network of contacts and our branch in Tanzania, ensuring that projects are managed effectively. We also manage and transmit funds to Tanzania on behalf of private donors and groups.

The Tumaini Fund
Tumaini is the Swahili word for Hope and it is a Guernsey-based charity, seeking to alleviate the terrible suffering of the Aids widows and orphans in Kagera, the North-West province of Tanzania.
13,000 orphans are now supported by the Tumaini Fund and receiving this help, we employ 7 local workers in Kagera to carry out the project…monitored by the Anglican Diocese… with 70 local parish-workers, working in pairs.

Zambia Orphans of Aids
Zambia is one of the African countries hardest hit by HIV/AIDS. In response to this crisis, Zambia Orphans of AIDS (ZOA) was formed by concerned Zambians and now has members from across the world. It is registered in the United States of America, the United Kingdom and Zambia.
The projects ZOA supports use the funds to develop income-generating activities, provide skills training, and tend to the nutritional, educational and medical needs of the children. In all, about 8000 orphans are reached and assisted through ZOA’s efforts.
